Hopepunk City updated for upcoming Steam Release

Hopepunk City has been updated to version 1.6 on itch.io to bring it in line with an upcoming steam release.  It has also been updated at the site store.

The game play itself has not changed. what has changed is some of the music. I was double checking that I still had rights to the music I was using, as that’s a requirement of Steam, and the company I used has erased my account some time in the last 4 years.

Luckily, I have a backup with Epidemic Sound which I purchased a commercial license so I could get music for Dating in a World on Fire, and decided I can use them for the background music in Hopepunk City, too.

There’s about 8 new titles, to replace about 8 old titles. The introductory short music that starts each scene has not changed. This is the same version as the eventual Steam build, except no Steam achievements.

PC, Linux, and Mac and their associated Demos have been updated with the new music. Android has not been updated, neither has the free online demo.

More details on the steam release after it gets officially approved.

    Dear Ariane,

I believe I have found some errors when playing Hopepunk City.

I bought this game on steam recently.

There are 2 achievements cannot be done even if I meet the requirement.

They would be “Asst Photographer” and “Everyone in the Hot Tub.”

I searched on steam and this website, so far there is no one talking about this problem.

Would you please let me know if this is an issue from the system or not?

The percentage of having these 2 archievements would be only 0.5%.

    It seems uncommon to me.

    Looking forward to your reply.

    A player from your game.

      Thanks for the heads up.

I looked into it, and both are results of spelling issues on the Steam side (Which I’m responsible for).

On the Asst Photographer, the issues is that the game is asking to credit “Asst. Photographer” and Steam has it without the period after the T. I added the period on Steam, so it should work now.

The problem on “Everyone in the Hot Tub” is that internally, on Steam, I renamed it to “Everyone at the Spa”, but I actually had both achievement names on steam. So I don’t have to upload a new version, I removed the hot tub version.

The reason for the name change has to do with Steam rules requiring “family friendly” achievement names. Hopepunk City has over 70 achievements, and about 13 of them are not family friendly. What I did on other games was rename some of the achievements, but since Hopepunk City has so many, I left off the 13 inappropriate ones from Steam.

        Dear Ariane,

        Thank you for your reply.

As an old player of your game, I am happy and proud that I can see the game on steam. I love your work so I decide to buy it as a support to you. I hope I can see more of your work in the future.
