Considering the rough go the LGBTQ community has had this past year, losing ground on equal rights around the world, I feel it necessary to renew my support with another round of “Nothing but Pride Flags” which I first did a couple of years ago, but there have been some changes.
Despite being canonically Hetro, mixed race Wendy is still a strong ally of the LGBTQ community, and is wearing the Progress Pride flag which is the Rainbow flag with an added chevron representing racial diversity and trans rights. Gay Rebecca is going with the classic rainbow flag, still the most recognizable flag of Pride, and represents all varieties of gender attraction and gender identity.
Since the last time, I have made Ariane’s identity “bisexual”. Ariane that means she gets the fuscia purple blue Bisexual pride flag, which she decided to not actually wear.
“Evan” the pizza guy is named after a real gay friend who died unexpectedly in 2015. Since the 2021 version there is growing adaption of a gay men pride flag (though most still go with the rainbow). Each stripe represents an aspect of the gay male community.
I introduced my first trans character in Hopepunk City . Ji, named after a real life African American trans woman I met at work who was struggling with the transition, I decided to make her fully transitioned. Meanwhile, Lydia is holding the recently adapted Lesbian “sunset” flag, an equivalent of the male flag above.
I established in Hopepunk City that Maya is an Aromantic, and Rachel is an Asexual. I dyed their hair with pride spirit too, for a little fun.
These are the “player” avatars used in my games, you can choose to play as a male or a female. I thought I’d have them show off 4 flags, with different aspects of “somewhere between male and female”: On the left is the “intersex” flag, a yellow flag with a purple circle, next is the pansexual flag, third is the agender flag, and finally the non-binary flag.
These represent 12 of the more popular pride flags, you might see in pride events, there are dozens of others. Assuming they are allowed near you. Sad that this is becoming so controversial.
I don’t give a crap about the haters. Let your “freak flags” fly!
