More Erotic 3D Dating Sims Part 2
It seems the most popular post on my blog is “A Few More Erotic 3D Dating Sims” so maybe I should do more posts like that. Here is a few I found in the last year and a half since that post.
Dreaming With Elsa
Written by Tlaero
Art by Mortze
Format HTML using Tlaero’s Adventure Creator
Link to Play Link to Download
This may be one of the best games in this genre I have ever played. The art is perfection and the story intriguing. I had this idea for a Rachel game that moves between fantasy and reality, but I abandoned it. This one is better anyways. Elsa is an introverted bookworm like me. I would definitely like hanging out with her. More info here. If you get stuck there is a walkthrough here.
Brad’s Summer
Written by Fleet
Art by Fleet
Format Javascript/HTML built with Novelty Visual Novel Engine

A third person perspective game where you play as Brad, an underachiever who needs money to keep him in school.
Fleet is one of the few people who, like me, write and do all the graphics. This is his latest. My only complaint is that it lacks an easy way to turn off the sometimes annoying music. If you get stuck there is a walkthrough here.
The-VDates Trilogy: The Gym, The Physio, The Sniper
Format Javascript/Html
Website
The creator of these games seems to be anonymous, but the games themselves are getting good buzz and reviews. The writer has a good sense of humor, and the plots have their share of twists.
The graphics on The Gym are less than ideal, for a good while every girl looks exactly the same and exactly like Victoria 4. There is a marked improvement in graphics in The Physio. The third volume of the trilogy has yet to be released, but is expected to explain the odd ending of The Physio. If you get stuck, the hosting website includes walkthroughs.
DigitalEro: The Game Episode 1
Written by GiantKrill

Format Renpy Engine

When I finished the Renpy version of Date Ariane, I decided to look for other games like Date Ariane that were also built on Renpy and discovered this one. It is comparatively short, you should see all endings in a half an hours time.
The graphics are done on a video game engine Garry’s Mod rather than the Poser/Daz Studio graphics of the rest. This makes them less realistic, but often more interesting.

you should checkout Brad’s erotic week by Wolfshadowe, which is very ambitious, in beta, has a successful Patreon and should be right up your alley. Sorry for the possible double-post, WP.com and Chrome ScriptBlock don’t like each other 🙂
I liked Dreaming With Elsa a lot, I agree The story is quite intriguing, and The graphics are really good
It’s a really cool short game
Dreaming with Elsa was really fucking good. Literally. :’)
I agree with John’s comment regarding Brad’s Erotic Week. It is incredibly ambitious and very well done. I like the fact that he’s creating a world for his characters to inhabit. Of note is the fact that stuff happens in this world even if the main character is there or not. The player may set off a chain of events that occur in a location that he may choose not to visit at a particular time, but they happen anyway and there is consequence later in the game because of it. There also seems to be a system of “corruption” for some characters, where the player may be able to alter another’s outlook on life. While I don’t think every character should have that feature (Ariane for example, is a very self confident woman and having a feature like this for her would betray her entire character) I think it’s the sense of agency the players feel that is really appealing in this game.
Although this is a pie in the sky idea, what I’d eventually like to see is a bunch of independent developers who have created excellent smaller games like yourself getting together to create a game world for all your characters to inhabit. Ideally what I see is a dynamic world filled with characters with certain wants and needs and routines that may change due to character interaction with them. For example, a girl you see every day at the library may not be there after certain interactions, you may find her at the gym instead depending on what you did (or what events you set in place that affected her).
As for the player, I see this as almost a sandbox RPG type of game (with some resource management which I’ll get to later). You start the game with some skill points that you can assign (for example, Charisma, Intelligence, Physical Attractiveness, etc. and skills such as Dancing, Massage, etc.). Even things like Niceness or Sense of Humor can be potential attributes. You need to be at a certain skill level in an attribute to unlock certain dialogue options (or even have a certain combination of skills at certain levels to unlock other options) or certain activities. These skills can be increased in game (for example, going to the gym a lot can increase physical attractiveness). Also you can choose to be either male or female (which drastically changes how the game is played, as well as choosing sexual orientation). There is also resource management to consider too. When you start you have a certain amount of money that you use to buy a “lifestyle”, which includes where you live and what amenities you have. It starts off low. You also can buy things like Gym Membership and University Enrollment which increases the areas you have access to, the skills that you can acquire and increase, and the people you meet at various locations. For example, going to University and taking Psychology may give you hints during dialogue choices.
Right off the bat you have to get a job (what will be available will be determined by what attributes you picked). So you can start off in the lowly mailroom or security guard working the night shift at an office building for example. If you have good Dancing and Physical Attractiveness scores you can get a job dancing at the local strip club, or being a bouncer, or being a bartender, or being a model, or picking up the photography skill and being a photographer. Each job may give you certain perks you can exploit. There could also be a way to progress in certain careers or you could meet people n one career that may open up another career path. Also, at the end of the month of game time if you can’t pay the bills you loose the game. As you progress in the game more work and recreation options become available. You are also desperately trying to get to the next higher lifestyle. So now instead of picking up girls on dates in your run down jalopy, you have a decent car and a decent apartment to entertain them in. For some dates that may be an advantage. For others not so much. You can afford the good wine and play truth or dare in your hot tub for example. Eventually you could end up in a mansion, be a member of the expensive country club, go to galas where all the models and celebrities in this world hang out, and attend the secret Playboy Mansion type clubs.
What I think this would offer is a more immersive game where you have to think about more than getting laid. For example “I like that secretary at my workplace, but if I hit on her I may get fired and may loose the game”. Or “thanks to the sexy personal trainer I met at the gym I’m making great gains in my skill points. However if I hit on her and she rejects me then I may lose her services and I’ll have to wait a lot longer to level up the skills I want to level up”. .
As for income for developers, I could see this game using a free to play model with a cash store. So right off the bat after character creation you could go to the cash store, buy the “Parents pay for University Perk” and have free low level lifestyle and University Tuition for a certain amount of game time (rounds, days, etc.) to gain access to skills and skill points (and the opportunities these translate to) so you don’t have to trudge through a lot of low level stuff to get to the content you want if you’re willing to pay. It takes away nothing from non playing characters but allows players willing to pay the ability to bypass content or invested time that they have no interest in. You can also purchase a revive and give another month’s rent to a character who has lost or is destined to loose due to certain bad choices that were made. This could prevent rolling a new character. Better yet, if there is a character creation system (where you physically create your own character) you could add in cosmetic items at the store as well.
I know a game like this being made is very unlikely but I think it would be a great boon for the industry. With the right developers such as yourself involved it would prevent the game from becoming misogynistic male fantasy which would be horrible. Different developers also have different sexual turn-ons and it would be great to have that variety in a larger game. Also, the developers who have provided content free due to it being their hobbies obviously have a passion for making these games. Monetizing the game is important not just to make sure the developers get compensated for their work, but to show that games like this can be economically viable. Distributors such as Steam who have no problem peddling excessively violent material but turn their nose up at sexual content would have no choice but to take notice. The game itself has a progression system and “life simulator” system which is popular and lends itself nicely to the current free to play model which is proving to be very successful. Plus, well made games with sexual content are very few and far between, so it is basically a market with a lot of untapped potential.
This turned into a much larger rant than anticipated. I was just going to say you and a lot of people on your Erotic 3D Dating Sims List should collaborate and make some games together and be done with it. My apologies.

On the last dating sim, the game engine isn’t Garry’s Mod, but rather Source Engine on Garry’s Mod.
