Something’s In The Air Redux Now Available on Steam

After a lot of work, I got Something’s In The Air Redux on Steam. You can purchase it at https://store.steampowered.com/app/2531360/Somethings_In_The_Air_Redux/

Because it is an age restricted game you have to be logged in to Steam and verify your age before you can see the game sales page. Price is $8.99 in US dollars (steam automatically converts to your local currency) which is more expensive than other locations. This is because Valve takes more from each sales than other sources I use. Also you are paying for it to be permanently in your library and 67 exclusive steam achievements to earn.

I was worried there would be a problem with AI voicing the game, but because I used Eleven Labs stock voices and didn’t attempt to mirror celebrity voices, Steam seemed OK with it.

Steamworks recently banned AI content on games on their store, but it is mostly AI generated writing and AI generated images which are currently in copyright limbo right now, so a blanket ban makes sense. The library AI voices are owned by Eleven Labs who I am paying to license, so it is not fraught with the same legal issues.

Not the only legal issue

The Rachel Meets Ariane section of the game originally included a scene of Ariane dressed in a school girl uniform. Because depictions of adults pretending to be children are banned in some countries Steamworks sells games in, it is generally banned in all steam games, too. So I had to change Ariane’s outfit in that scene to a Japanese fantasy outfit, which I personally prefer, but some prefer the old version. Use slideshow above to compare the two versions.

Because keeping track of multiple versions of the game is hard (I learned this when there were 7 different versions of Date Ariane available), all versions of Something’s In The Air Redux on itch.io and the Site Store use the Steam version of the scene.

So here is a “back patch” to get the old version of the scene back into the game if you want.

ageplay-backpatch.zip

Instructions to install is included in a readme file. It is only a 5 MB file. If for some reason it doesn’t work, you might have to reinstall. the current version, so use at your own risk.

This post released on Friday, but there was an unexpected delay on the Steam end I did not see until Saturday. It should be available now!
